講演題目： X-Ray Astronomy --- the start into a new century ---

要旨： 40 years after an unpretentious take-off X-ray astronomy has evolved from a sideline into a mainstream discipline in astrophysics. Technological developments and new theoretical insights promoted it, even more, into a topical subject of fundamental physical research. The new advanced X-ray observatories, Chandra and XMM-Newton, are introduced and some of their exciting first results are discussed.
